Bio

Coach Moton entered his first year as the Plainsmen assistant basketball coach in the fall of 2018. He grew up in Aurora, CO and attended Northeastern Junior College from 2012-2014, playing under current head coach Eddie Trenkle.  Upon graduating from Northeastern, he continued his basketball career at Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-P).

During his playing career, he earned many accolades.  While at NJC, the Plainsmen hosted and won the Region IX Championship and advanced to Hutchinson to play in the National Tournament.  During his sophomore year, he was selected as an All-American and led this team to a final ranking of 5th in the country, finishing with a 31-4 record. His next two years at CSU-P would come with success as well as he led the Thunderwolves to 21 victories his first year.  That season record of 21 wins would rank as the third best in program history for a single season.  Additionally, Moton would receive the most votes any player has received in the school’s history for 1st team All RMAC.

After finishing his playing career, Moton would begin his coaching career as the student assistant coach at CSU-P for two years.  He would graduate with his bachelors from CSU-P in Exercise Science, Recreation, and Health Promotion.

While one of his biggest passions is basketball, his true passion is his care for people. Moton would comment, “While I could talk X’s and O’s all day, being a good person will always outweigh anything that you can produce on the basketball court. I know everybody comes from different circumstances and upbringings; I am just here to embrace them all and influence these young student-athletes to genuinely care for their family and those around them. As much as I love winning basketball games, the only real loss would be if a kid came to NJC and didn’t leave here as a better person.”
