Plainsmen Pounce Cougars

Plainsmen Pounce Cougars

The Plainsmen continue their hot streak at home here in the late stretch of the season.  The men have been able to put together a string of wins to help their conference seeding in the dog days of the season.  Although the middle of their season was not what they hoped for, they have been playing solid games to put themselves in good position for post season play.

The two game series at home against the Cougars was the ball they knew they can play.  The Plainsmen would begin the first game getting a small lead in the second inning as they would score two runs.  The game would remain a 2-0 game until the final two innings in the fifth and sixth as they would really get hot and put up a total of eight runs in two innings.  The last six runs in the sixth inning would initiate the run rule and the men would win 10-0.  Tanner Schoeninger would get the win for pitching and would complete the game.

The second game was much different as runs would not come as easily for the Plainsmen.  The men would begin the game in a 0-0 tie until the bottom of the third as they would get two runs to take the 2-0 lead.  The game would be a defensive showing for both teams as neither team could get any players around to score.  In the top of the seventh, the Cougars would find a way to score two runs and tie it up.  With the game on the line and the meat of their order up, Northeastern was confident in their batting and had a good idea of how it was about to end.  The men would get hits and get score the one run needed to get the walk of victory.  Jordan Chappell would start the game and get the no decision, and Trystan Kimmel would get the win.

The next games will be at home against Lamar CC as the men play the Lopes on Sunday and Monday at Plainsmen Park.
