Plainsmen Stay Hot

In their home opener, the Plainsmen basketball team hosted the Northwest Kansas Tech JV Mavericks looking to get a win for the home crowd.  Northeastern has won the first two games of the season, and they were looking to get more wins to keep them hot going into the Air Force tournament.  Being that their competition was a JV team, they did not want to overlook them at all.

In the first half, the Plainsmen were able to get an early lead, and Keishon Parker was there to lead the way by scoring 14 in the half.  Right behind him, Marcus Burwell with 11 points, and both of them combined accounted for over half of the teams 46 points.  The Plainsmen would lead the Mavs 46-34 at half.

In the second half, the Plainsmen would blow the game open with Keishon Parker leading the way again.  Parker would go 5-6 from the three and 7-8 from the field to give him 19 points in only eight minutes of play.  The last 10 minutes of the game, the Plainsmen had the game in the bag, they just had to ride it out to the eventual 103-70 victory.

Leading the way in scoring was Keishon Parker as he totaled 33 points by going 12-14 from the field and 9-11 from three.  Next was Jazz Parker coming off the bench with 18 points and three steals.  Third in scoring was Marcus Burwell and Ben Davis II with 12 each.

The Plainsmen will be on the road November 10 and 11 as they travel to Colorado Springs, CO to play in the Air Force Prep Invite.
