Plainsmen Get Both At Air Force Prep Invite

With another road trip behind them, the Plainsmen basketball team was able to get two more wins down in Colorado Springs, CO by defeating Air Force Prep and Planet Athlete Academy.  The Plainsmen knew going into their game against AFP that it would be a tough environment to play at with the smaller gym and vocal cadets in attendance.  Other than those external factors out of play, Northeastern knew they had a good chance as long as they played their game and stuck to the scouting report.

The game started out by AFP taking the lead 10-7 before the Plainsmen could settle in.  Shortly after, NJC was able to make a run to gain the lead at 13-11.  Not backing down, Air Force regained the lead at 23-17.  This back and forth battle was what the Plainsmen were expecting; they just had to weather the storms.  With 5:07 left in the half, Ibrahim Dodo was able to get a steal and get the bucket to give the Plainsmen the 28-26 lead.  They were able to keep that lead until halftime where they lead 39-37.

In the second half, teams were exchanging point for point until 10:12 left when Northeastern went on an 11-3 run to give them a sizable 68-57 lead.  After that run, the Plainsmen were able to keep the lead until the end when they won 89-73.  Leading in scoring again was Marcus Burwell with 29 points, followed by Ron Hall with 11, and Ibrahim Dodo with10.

The second game against Planet Athlete Academy was a team that the Plainsmen did not know much about.  Once again, if they were able to play their game and stick to what they know, they should be able to come away with the victory. 

Right away, the Plainsmen were able to jump out to an early 20-11 lead in the first eight minutes of play.  As the game progressed, Northeastern would double their lead at half to 53-26.  In the second half it was time for the men to work on things and get out of there injury free.  The Plainsmen would finish with a 105-71 victory and give them two wins on the weekend.  Scoring for the team was evenly distributed throughout the team, but Nykolas Lang had the most by having 22 points.  Mohammad Elradi would have 11 and Dan Villejo, Relando Rogers, James Bittle, and Ibrahim Dodo would all have 10.

The next games for the Plainsmen will be at Sheridan, WY as they play Sheridan College and Little Big Horn College at the Sheridan Tournament on November 17 & 18.
