Buzzer Beater Defeat

Buzzer Beater Defeat

The Northeastern men traveled to North Platte to play the Knights in a Region IX Conference matchup.  The Plainsmen wanted to get this win to help get a streak rolling to start the second half of conference play.  Knowing the Knights would be a tough team, they were ready for battle.

The game would be a close match, and at halftime, the Knights would only lead by one point.  The second half drama would have put anyone on the edge of their seat.  With the Plainsmen trailing by three points and less than 30 seconds left, they knew they had a shot to send it into overtime.  As the clock would tick, Keishon Parker found himself behind the arc with an open opportunity.  He took the shot and made it with just 11 seconds left on the clock; game tied 72-72.  Those 11 seconds however would be just enough time for the Knights to have their own shot at winning it.  As the last seconds would dwindle down, the Knights took a shot, and then had an offensive rebound that would be put back up as the horn sounded, which would find its way in the hoop.  The Plainsmen were dumbfounded how that shot was taken before the buzzer.

Leaders for the game would be Keishon Parker coming off the bench to have 16 points, Ron Hall scoring 14, and both Marcus Burwell and Ibrahim Dodo each having 13.

The Plainsmen will head east again to play the McCook Indians on January 13.
