Missed Layups Haunt Plainsmen

Missed Layups Haunt Plainsmen

The men's basketball team traveled to Lamar to play a Region IX conference game against the Lopes.  Last time these teams met in Sterling, the Plainsmen were able to get the win by a seven-point margin, which helped them in the rankings.  This time however, Lamar would get the upper hand.

The first half of the game, the Plainsmen were able to play well, but the Lopes had the seven-point lead at half.  The boys had a tough time from the field missing some shots that should have been no doubters, but they would have the second half to make those up.  What they did not expect was that their missed shots would carry over too.

The second half, everything was done perfectly; stop their best players, rebound, create open shots, and run the offense.  The one thing that hurt them the most was the missed layups.  The Plainsmen would give themselves opportunities to get shots, but could not get the ball to fall.  The result of that would cost the Plainsmen as they would be defeated by the Lopes 99-80.

Northeastern will be at home for their final conference games as they play McCook CC on Friday February 16, and North Platte on Saturday February 17.
