Plainsmen Win on Sophomore Night

Plainsmen Win on Sophomore Night

Feb. 26, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — In their final home and regular season game, the Plainsmen hosted Lamar JV. This game was sophomore night where they recognized the five sophomores on outstanding careers as student-athletes for the Plainsmen. The sophomores included Ben Davis II, Josh Carter, Iseri Palacio, Relando Rodgers, and Nykolas Lange. Being it was their last game in the Bank of Colorado Event Center, these men wanted to go out with a bang.

The beginning of the game was back and forth in scoring for both teams. Lamar scored on back door layups and drew Northeastern into fouls. The Plainsmen adjusted and went on a run to go up 34-22. The Lopes slowed Northeastern for a few possessions and gained a few points back before the Plainsmen took over on scoring again. At halftime, Northeastern led 50-36.

The second half was pure domination by the Plainsmen with everyone getting in on the action. For every basket that Lamar scored, Northeastern made two. Everyone on the team recorded a stat in the playbook and helped the Plainsmen soar to the 90-66 win.

Josh Carter led in scoring for the Plainsmen recording 16 points and Ben Davis II had 15.

Northeastern will head into postseason play looking to punch their ticket to Hutch. For time, dates, and opponent for their game, check the online schedule at www.gonjc.com
