Snow Ices Plainsmen Winning Streak

Snow Ices Plainsmen Winning Streak

In their final game of a two game weekend series, the Plainsmen soccer team played against the Snow College Badgers.  The Plainsmen wanted to keep their winning streak hot, and this would be a great test for them.

The match had started and it was apparent from the opening kick that both the Plainsmen and the Badgers were two great teams and the fans were going to get their monies worth.  With two talented teams competing, this would be a tight game and would come down to the team who takes advantages of opportunities given.

The first few minutes, NJC would turn up the heat offensively and keep the ball in the Badger defensive zone.  Not to be outdone, the Badgers would weather the storm and apply pressure of their own and keep the Plainsmen on their heels.  The game would prove to be the Plainsmen's toughest opponent, and going into half the game would stay tied 0-0.

In the second half, it would be the Badgers who would strike first by gaining the lead early with a 1-0 lead.  As time ticked away, NJC would score the equalizer when an injury substitution would bring in Robbert Daemen for the corner kick.  Daemen would place the ball perfectly for Olav Sieljes to head it for a goal.

With the game tied 1-1, the Badgers kept testing the Plainsmen defense, until eventually scoring another to give them the 2-1 lead.  The intensity was high on the field and both teams were playing equally well.  With an opportunity evident, Brodie Hayes would rise above the defenders and place one in the net to tie it once again; game now 2-2.

Shortly after the game-tying goal from Hayes, a Snow forward would sneak past a Plainsmen defender and dribble a goal past Clement May, which would give them the 3-2 lead.

At the 70-minute mark, the Plainsmen had to turn up the heat to be able to get the game tied.  Numerous times, NJC put themselves in great position, but poor passes and misguided kicks made it so the possession would be given back to the Badgers.  The time ticked away and would eventually lead to the buzzer sounding in the 3-2 loss for the Plainsmen.

The Plainsmen are back in action on September 4 as they host Garden City, with game starting at 2.
