Raiders Loot Plainsmen

In recent play, the men's soccer team traveled to Columbus, NE to play against the Central Community College Raiders.  The men had won their previous two games after a small losing streak, and were looking to string together a few more wins.  The Plainsmen knew the Raiders could sneak out a win from underneath them if they didn't play well, but if they played their game, there was nothing to worry about.

In the first half, it seemed that the Plainsmen were having a tough time progressing the ball through the zones and making any attempts at scoring.  Although Northeastern wasn't having success with scoring opportunities, their defense was solid and was not allowing the Raiders to have any chances either.  As the first half ended, the game was tied 0-0 and the Plainsmen needed to get some things figured out if they wanted to score.

In the second half, the game seemed to be having the same outcome, until the 50 minute when the Raiders broke the ice to give them the 1-0 lead.  The Plainsmen knew they were not good at playing "catch-up," so they needed to score.

As time progressed, the Raiders would add to their score in the 75 minute to give them the 2-0 lead.  After that goal the Plainsmen were agitated and only had 15 minutes to get a couple of goals.  But with time diminishing, Central added yet another goal at the 85 minute mark to give them the 3-0 win.

Northeastern will be on the road Friday September 29 as they travel to La Junta to play against Region IX foe Otero Junior College with the game beginning at 1pm.
