Plainsmen Roundup Mustangs

Plainsmen Roundup Mustangs

The Plainsmen soccer team hosted Western Wyoming in recent action.  Last time these two teams met, the Plainsmen gathered up their posse and lassoed themselves a victory.  The men were looking to play another solid game to have the same outcome.

As the game started, it was shaping up to be a close game, but it was Brodie Hayes who would break the ice in the 20th minute from a pass from Ryan Maulsby to give them the 1-0 lead.  Throughout the rest of the half, it stayed tied 1-0 as both teams were able to play solid defense.

In the second half, the Mustangs were able to tie the game in the 65th minute of play.  From that point in the match, the Plainsmen were able to regroup and start playing Northeastern soccer.  In the 75th minute, Paul Liagre was able to score of Joseph Godoy's pass to give NJC the 2-1 lead.  Shortly after in the 78th minute, Joseph Godoy would get a goal of his own, as Paul Liagre would be counted for the assist; Plainsmen lead 3-1.  Towards the end of the match in the 82nd minute, Joseph Godoy would get his second goal as Vitor Venancio would get the assist.  That last goal would be the straw that broke the Mustangs back as the Plainsmen would win 4-1.

The Plainsmen will be back home on October 11 as they host the Western Nebraska Cougars.
