Plainsmen Advance To Playoffs

Plainsmen Advance To Playoffs

In the last Region IX Conference matchup, the Plainsmen hosted the Central CC Raiders in a winner take all match.  This game was a must win for both teams, because whoever won would advance to the Region IX tournament while the other would not have a birth and season would be completed after their last regular season game.  Last time these teams met in Columbus, the Raiders were able to defeat the Plainsmen 3-0.

With that weighing in on both teams minds, the match had begun.

The game started out just as expected, tremendous defense with not many scoring opportunities.  It was at the 33rd minute when Joseph Godoy would score from the foot of Jean Carre to give the Plainsmen the 1-0 lead.  The goal would be a difference maker in itself, to which will be proven later.

In the second half, it was a battle with no one scoring.  With time ever so slowly going away, the Plainsmen did not want to give up a cheeky goal to give the Raiders energy and a chance to make a comeback.

Minutes felt like hours, seconds felt like days.  As the clock ran out, the Plainsmen could breathe a little easier knowing that they made post season.

The Plainsmen will host their final regular season game on Sunday October 15 at 3pm as they host the Gillette Pronghorns.  This game will also be Sophomore day as we recognize the sophomores for their dedication to the Plainsmen program.
