Plainsmen Win Two More At Home

NJC men's soccer played their final two home games for the regular season last week as they took on Trinidad State College and Otero Junior College.  Both games went well for the team as they were able to defeat Trinidad 2-1 and also the Rattlers 1-0.  The win against Otero was bittersweet as it was sophmore day, in which 16 NJC players seen their last home regular season game as Plainsmen.  Men's soccer is on a three game winning streak going into this week as they head to Wyoming to finish up their regular season games.  On Friday, October 15th, NJC will take on conference competitors Central Wyoming College and on Saturday, October 16th against Northwest College in Powell.

(Game Recap 10/8) Plainsmen vs. Trinidad State College = Won 2-1

NJC Goal #1 - At minute 42, Harry Reed divides the defenders to find Liam Milton for a shot from 30 yards out that beat the goalkeeper

NJC Goal #2 - At minute 44, Dylan Viebrantz-Zavatini makes a long throw to find Harry Reed streaking who beats defender for the goal.  It was Harry's 8th goal of the season.

TSC Goal #1 - With one minute left in regulation, Trojan's Francisco Chavez makes a move to beat NJC's goalkeeper for their only goal of the match

Breakdown: Play went on competitively between the two teams as the match went on for the first 40 minutes.  NJC got hot with two goals right before the 1st half ended, giving them the 2-0 edge.  Great defense kept the Plainsmen in the game until a goal was given up at the very end of the game to take away the shutout at home.  Northeastern tallied 5 corner kicks and a total of 14 shots taken during the match.  NJC also recorded two yellow cards in the match.

NJC Goal - At minute 105 in double overtime, Hugo Rego finds Harry Reed as he splits defenders to beat the goalkeeper for the golden goal win

Breakdown: A very windy afternoon led to limited opportunities for both the Plainsmen and Rattlers to make big plays or passes.  After two scoreless periods and one overtime, NJC finds the opportunity needed to take the win against their rivals.  Harry Reed continues his freshman year tear with 9 goals (2nd in conference), 5 assists (4th in conference), 23 points (2nd in conference) and 37 shots (3rd in conference).  Northeastern's goalkeeper Dario Luca Primus out of Switzerland is 3rd in the conference with only 9 goals allowed all season.
