Otero Knocks The Plainsmen Out Of Contention

After coming off of a very strong season, Northeastern men's soccer season came to a screeching halt as the Otero Rattlers stunned the Plainsmen to end their post season chances.  The Plainsmen have played the Rattlers very well this season and have had strong success against their offense and defense.  Even though it was not the outcome that first year coach Chance Vang was looking for, he couldn't of been more happy with how his team performed this season.  NJC will be looking to comeback bigger and stronger next seasoon as they will again compete to win the Region IX conference.

(Game Recap 10/23) Plainsmen vs. Otero Junior College = Loss 3-2

NJC Goal #1 - At minute 7, Liam Milton beats the goalkeeper on an unassisted goal

OJC Goal #1 - At minue 36, OJC beats goalkeeper on an unassisted goal

NJC Goal #2 - At minute 58, Ivan Luna finds a streaking Harry Reed who fires a shot past goalkeeper

OJC Goal #2 - At minute 85, OJC out manuevers NJC defense and finds the back of the net to equalize game

OJC Goal #3 - At minute 87, Pape Soulemayne beats the NJC goalkeeper for the game winner, his second unassisted goal of the match

Breakdown: The first half of the match was very even across the board even with NJC's quick goal.  Late in the first half, Otero equalizes.  Each team went into halftime feeling good about the 1-1 tie.  Early again in the second half NJC's attack nets them a goal to take the 2-1 lead.  With only 5 minutes in the match, NJC defense and mentality fell apart as they gave up two goals, an equalizer and a game winner.  Otero out shot the Plainsmen 15-14.
