Northeastern Ties With #13 Casper

Northeastern Ties With #13 Casper

Sterling, Colo...

Your NJC plainsmen opened region 9 play against Casper in a high-quality contest. It just so happened that they were ranked #13 in the country to add some more spice to the game.  Northeastern started of very strong and were the dominant side early on and we rewarded as Hugo Rego crossed the ball to Tokiya at the back post, who chested it down and volleyed it in to take the lead early in the first half. NJC kept applying the pressure and created some more chances on goal but couldn't capitalize and finished the finish half 1-0. Northeastern came out hot again in the second half and got a penalty kick that Tokiya Monno won and then stepped up to convert the PK.

For the first 55/60 minutes of the game, NJC were on top in the game and were thoroughly deserving of the lead. After the 60-minute Casper came back into the game and started to create more chances and showed why they were one of the best teams in the country. They managed to pull a goal back off a corner kick that Nestus saved but Casper managed to put the rebound in the net. Casper kept applying more pressure on the NJC goal and started to have some more shots, although NJC didn't give into too much pressure. Casper were able to score an equalizing goal with just 12 minutes left in the game off a direct free kick. The game finished 2-2 and then headed to Overtime. Overtime didn't disappoint either with a strong back and forth game, however, neither team were able to score that crucial game winner.
