NJC Pick's Up Another Win

NJC Pick's Up Another Win

Sterling, Colo...

Less than 24 hours after a tough grueling match against Casper, the plainsmen take to the field again against Northwest College. This was the second game of region play and important for the plainsmen to get all three points to stay near the top of the region table.  You could tell the Northeastern had a very tough game the day before as the first half lacked some intensity and energy that the team pride themselves upon. The team struggled to create good chances and the few that they did they were unable to put them away. It was a frustrating half and also one that Northwest grew with confidence and could sense that NJC were not playing their best soccer. The first half in general didn't have too much excitement although NJC did have a lot of the possession.

The second half was different however, the plainsmen came out with much more intensity and were able to go 1-0 through a well worked goal. Clement the plainsmen's number 10 was able to work his way down the left with some great footwork and put a great cross to the back post to find Usai who was able to put it in the net with a diving header. This set the tone for the second half as Northeastern were able to dominate both in the game and with the score line. NJC were able to score again not too long after the first, with a flick on header from Hugo Rego to find Jared Maciel in the box to volley home his team high 5th goal of the season. The third goal and final goal of the game came in the 70th minute as Cameron Sickels was running down the left after beating his man, then was fouled as he entered the penalty area. Hugo Rego stepped up to take the PK and scored to get this first of the season.
