Softball Riding 4 Game Win Streak

Northeastern softball traveled across state lines this past week to play in the Region IX kickoff event that featured several teams competing in the same conference.  Although the event was cut short due to weather, NJC went 4-0 in the first two days of the three day event.  After the 4 wins, the Plainswomen move to the top of the conference with a 13-10 record.  Softball takes a couple weeks off for Spring Break, but will be back in action on Thursday, March 24th at home against McCook Community College.  This matchup will feature a double header, with first pitches being thrown at 11am & 1pm at Mason Field in Sterling.

(Game Recap 3/3) Plainswomen vs. Trinidad State College = Won 13-5

Breakdown: NJC had a monster 2nd inning scoring 10 runs, with all 13 of their runs coming in the first 3 innings.  Shortstop Angelina Quezada went 2-2 from the plate knocking in 4 runs while Addy Deal went 1-4 with a 3 RBI double.  Four Plainswomen had at least 2 RBI's or more in the contest.  Sara Lynch threw a complete game striking out 7 while giving up 5 hits.  She also had a good day at the plate going 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base.

(Game Recap 3/3) Plainswomen vs. Lamar CC = Won 9-2

Breakdown: Northeastern went right to work scoring 4 in the 1st inning and again in the 5th inning.  Delaney Barrett took the mound and pitched a complete game giving up only 1 earned run in 28 batters faced.  Outfielder Addy Deal again knocked in 3 runs as she went 2-4 from the plate.  Cora Aguirres went yard ball on her only hit of the game knocking in 3 runs.  Jacquelynn Siefken went 3-4 from the plate in the game.  NJC recorded 10 hits total compared to Lamar CC's 6.

(Game Recap 3/4) Plainswomen vs. Luna CC = Won 12-6

Breakdown: Luna CC got the 1st at-bat of the game, scoring 4 runs to take an early lead.  Then NJC came out and doubled that total with 8 runs in the 1st inning to clear out the run deficit and add a couple.  Four Plainswomen had at least 2 RBI's or more and 3 ladies went deep to help secure the win for Northeastern.  Michaela Moorehouse pitched 6 stellar innings as she faced 25 batters and had no earned runs.  Brooke Rule stole 2 bases during the game.

(Game Recap 3/4) Plainswomen vs. Otero College = Won 5-1

Breakdown: A big 2nd inning from NJC plowed the way for an easy win against rival Otero.  Sara Lynch pitched another complete game, striking out 8 batters and gave up just 3 hits.  She also helped her cause from the plate getting 2 hits, 1 of which was a double and 2 RBI's.  Angelina Quezada had 1 hit and 2 RBI's while Jacquelynn Siefken added another RBI.  Brooke Rule stole another base.  Northeastern had 7 hits and 7 strike outs.
