NJC Softball Wins 4 of Last 6
NJC softball played 6 games in the past 4 days as their regular season is winding down. This past weekend, NJC hosted Luna Community College from New Mexico for a 4-game series that included two days of double-headers. Northeastern was able to sweep the last place Rough Riders as they put up 50 runs in the 4 games, keeping themselves in 1st place for Region IX. On Tuesday the 12th, the Plainswomen traveled to McCook for a windy double-header against the Indians that didn't work into Northeastern's favor. NJC lost both games to McCook, one that inlcuded a shutout. Next up, NJC plays conference rival Western Nebraska CC in a four game series, which will be a two day double-header format. Games start at 1pm & 3pm on Friday the 15th and 11am & 1pm on Saturday the 16th.

(Game Recap 4/9) Plainswomen vs. Luna CC = Won 17-2
Breakdown: Game called in 5 innings. A big 3rd inning allowed the Plainswomen to run away with the game. Rylyn Nelson went 2-4 from the plate that inlcuded 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's. Third baseman Jacquelynn Siefken went 3-3 at the plate with a double, homerun and 2 RBI's. Sara Lynch pitched another complete game that included 3 strikeouts, 5 walks and 2 earned runs. She also went 2-3 from the plate and kncoked in 2 RBI's. NJC had 19 hits and only 1 strikeout.

Breakdown: Game called in 6 innings. A slow start for Northeastern didn't last long as another big 3rd inning kicked things off and NJC never looked back in the easy win. Delaney Barrett pitched a complete game giving up 7 hits, 2 earned runs and striking out 1. Rylyn Nelson homered again for the 2nd straight game of the series and added a double with 2 RBI's. Jacquelynn Siefken also had a good game at the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. 5 different Plainswomen had an RBI in the win.
(Game Recap 4/10) Plainswomen vs. Luna CC = Won 10-2
Breakdown: Game called in 5 innings. For the 3rd straight game, NJC had a big 3rd inning that basically shut the door on Luna again. Michaela Moorehouse had a complete game performace on the mound for a win that included 5 strikeouts and 2 earned runs. Centerfielder Mia Glover went 2-3 at the plate with a homerun and 3 RBI's. Eden McNally knocked in 2 runs while going 2-3 in the game. Rylyn Nelson added a triple during the win. NJC recorded 14 hits in their 3rd win of the series.
(Game Recap 4/10) Plainswomen vs. Luna CC = Won 13-4
Breakdown: Game called in 5 innings. NJC's 6 runs in the 2nd inning and 7 in the 3rd inning was all it took to sweep the series from Luna CC. Avery Fox went on to win her 7th game of the season. She gave up 7 hits, 2 earned runs and struck out 1. 4 different Plainswomen had at least two RBI's in the big win and every player in the batting lineup knocked in at least 1 run. Very good overall batting from the entire Northeastern lineup. Angelina Quezada went 3-4 from the plate in the game that included a double and 2 RBI's.

(Game Recap 4/12) Plainswomen vs. McCook CC = Loss 6-2
Breakdown: McCook CC's big 3rd inning was too much for the Plainswomen to recover from. 2 late runs in the 7th inning was a little to late to beat the Indians. First baseman Katey Kelly went 2-4 from the plate with a late game double and 2 RBI's. Sara Lynch got the start but struggled a bit on her 5th loss of the season. Avery Fox came in and faced 16 batters and had no earned runs and 2 strikeouts.

Breakdown: Game called in 5 innings. McCook took no time in the second game of the double-header to put away NJC early. Worst loss on the season for the Plainswomen. Northeastern managed only 4 hits in the loss and struck out 6 times. 8 different players from McCook knocked in a run. Delaney Barrett got off to a rough start pitching and ended up taking her 5th loss on the season.
