NJC Regular Season Comes to an End

For the first time in NJC softball program history, the Plainswomen had back-to-back 30 win seasons under coach Myers and Gertner.  Northeastern had some ups and downs during the 22' season, but overall played very well and broke several program records along with Rylyn Nelson setting some player records herself.  NJC travels to McCook Community College at the end of this week to start playing in the Region IX tournament where Northeastern has a solid chance at taking home the championship if everything comes together.  This past weekend, the Plainswomen were in Trinidad taking on the Trojans to finish up the regular season where they split the series.

(Game Recap 4/30) Plainswomen vs. Trinidad State College = Loss 7-5

Breakdown: The game was tied at 4 when the game came down to the last inning.  Trojans scored 3 runs to the Plainswomen's 1.  Sara Lynch pitched a complete game but in the end took her 10th loss on the season.  Lynch faced 31 batters in which she struck out 3, walked 5 and gave up 4 earned runs.  Eden McNally went 2-2 from the plate with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.  Addy Deal and Mia Glover each went 2-3 from the plate with Deal knocking in a RBI.  The Plainswomen out hit the Trojans 9-5.

(Game Recap 4/30) Plainswomen vs. Trinidad State College = Win 12-11

Breakdown: A close game that came down to an extra inning.  Each team started off with a 5-run 1st inning, but cooled off until later in the game.  Rylyn Nelson went 5-6 from the plate with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.  Addy Deal went 3-4 from the plate with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's.  Desiree Perales went 3-5 in the game with 2 RBI's.  Avery Fox took her 8th win on the season as she struck out 4, gave up 5 earned runs and faced 23 batters.  Northeastern recorded 18 hits in the win. 

(Game Recap 5/1) Plainswomen vs. Trinidad State College = Win 10-6

Breakdown: Trinidad went up early in the game, but a consistent flow of scoring in the final 3 innings for the Plainswomen earned them a 2nd win of the series.  Sara Lynch pitched the majority of the game, but it was Avery Fox who came in and closed the game and took her 9th win on the season.  Addy Deal and Rylyn Nelson each went 1-4 in the game and each had 2 RBI's.  Eden McNally went 3-3 in the game with 1 RBI.  Katey Kelly smacked a solo homerun in the win.  Trinidad struck out 3 times to NJC's 0.

(Game Recap 5/1) Plainswomen vs. Trinidad State College = Loss 12-11

Breakdown:  Another close game between the conference rivals, but the Trojans pulled out the late game win.  5 Plainswomen had doubles in the loss.  Addy Deal was a stud in the game as she went 4-4 at the plate with a homerun, a double and 5 RBI's.  Catcher Andi Padilla was 3-5 from the plate and knocked in 1 run.  Sara Lynch only faced 4 batters towards the end of the game, but ended up having to take the loss in the game.  The loss was her 11th on the season.
