Plainswomen Break Ice On Season

Plainswomen Break Ice On Season

In their home opener, the Plainswomen were able to snag their first win on the season over the Mavericks from Northwest Kansas Tech JV.  The ladies were looking to get on the right side of the scoreboard, and they were able to do just that.

In the first quarter, the Plainswomen were able to get a slight lead by outscoring the Mavericks 23-19.  In the second quarter, the women really found their groove with three pointers and driving the ball.  Numerous times, Tashika Burell was able to drive to the hole to pick up a foul.  At halftime, the Plainswomen had the lead 48-35.

In the third quarter, the Plainswomen were able to separate themselves with post play from Katie Diakhaby.  Northeastern would outscore the Mavs 26-14 in the third, which would help seal the deal in the fourth.  In the final quarter, the Plainswomen were on cruise control which lead to the win 100-72.

Tashika Burrell scored the most for the Plainswomen by having 18 and Katie Diakhaby was able to score 17 of her own.  Coming off the bench to each score 10 themselves was Josi Kurtzer and Kirsten Regennitter.

The Plainswomen will host the Roundball Classic on November 10 and 11.
