Turnovers Trouble Plainswomen

The Plainswomen basketball team packed their gym bags and headed to Scottsbluff to play Region IX South opponent Western Nebraska Cougars.  The Cougars are currently leading the south division in Region IX, and the Plainswomen were looking to have an upset at the Cougar Palace.  The women would have to play as a collective unit to steal one from them, but the Cougars were able to disrupt their plan.

The first quarter started out rough for the Plainswomen as they fell behind fast and were trying to play "catch-up" from then on.  They would trail by 13 at the end of the first due to NJC telegraphing their passes and giving them open layups.  Northeastern would try to clean up their game in the second quarter, but the Cougars would continue their pressure and gain a larger lead.  At halftime, the Plainswomen would have a lot of making up to do after being behind 51-24.  Playing with a solid base and cleaning up their passes would be their ticket out while making open shots would help them stay in it.

In the second, they Plainswomen would play much better, but the deed had already been done.  Northeastern would be able to only put up four less points in the third and another four in the fourth, but the aggressive defense by the Cougars in the first made NJC passive which allowed them to get a large lead.  The Plainswomen will put this game behind them and look forward to their next game, which will be at home on Wednesday January 31 as they host the Laramie County Golden Eagles.
