Plainswomen Down Golden Eagles In Shootout

In another Region IX conference game, the Plainswomen played host to the Laramie County Golden Eagles.  The Plainswomen are coming off a tough loss to the WNCC Cougars and were looking to get back on the win train like they were in the beginning of January.  They knew the Golden Eagles would be a tough opponent but were ready for the competition.

The first quarter would begin with both teams shooting the ball really well, but the Plainswomen would have the slight advantage, as the horn would buzz 16-11.  The second quarter would separate Northeastern as they would get hot and put up 26 to the Eagles' 13.  That hot streak would give NJC the lead 42-24.  Not wanting to let up any, the ladies had to come out in the second and do a encore performance like the first.

In the second, the Plainswomen would indeed get hot to start the quarter and would eventually put up a solid 28 points.  In the fourth and final quarter however, the hot streak fizzled out they couldn't buy a bucket.  The result would allow the Eagles to gain a few points back, but the lead was too great and the Plainswomen would get the win 85-71.

The women are back in action at home on Friday February 2 as they host the Trinidad State Trojans.
