Foul Trouble For Posts Lead Plainswomen To Play Shorter Lineup

In a Region IX Conference game, the Plainswomen traveled down to Lamar to play the Lopes.  Last time these teams met, Northeastern would have their way and defeat Lamar80-57.  They would be successful due to the Plainswomen post players having a night and having a high scoring game.  This time however, the Lopes would adjust their game plan and get the Plainswomen post players in foul trouble.

The first quarter, Lamar would take a small lead over the Plainswomen 17-15, which was a time for both teams to feel each other out and see what kind of game it could be.  In the second, the Lopes would extend that lead by five as they would try to get the post players in foul trouble, making the NJC coaches sit the bigs; Lamar leading 37-30.  In the second half, the Plainswomen would start the quarter strong and keep up the scoring to take the lead 54-53.  But in the fourth and final quarter, the Lopes would get the Northeastern's bigs in foul trouble, forcing the Plainswomen to play a shorter lineup.  That lineup would work for NJC to keep them in the game, but the bread and butter for the Plainswomen is their post play.  In the end, the Plainswomen would fall to the Lopes 76-70.

The ladies will be back home for their final conference game on Friday February 16 against McCook CC and then home again the following day for hoops homecoming against North Platte CC.
