Plainswomen End Season

Plainswomen End Season

The Plainswomen's season came to an end on Saturday March 3 with a loss to the Lamar Runnin' Lopes.  In the Region IX South play in game, NJC came in as the fifth seed and took on the fourth seed Lamar losing by a final score of 67-62.

Lamar came out firing hitting two-three pointers right away and added another two, taking an 8-1 advantage to start the game.  Northeastern would climb back in and only trail 15-12 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, NJC would fight back to take a 23-22 lead to start things off.  Lamar, however, would recapture the lead 24-23, making it to be one heck of a ball game.  Katie Diakhaby got an and one foul, and followed it up by hitting her free throw to take a 26-24 lead.  Lamar would get their shooters hot again and would take the 34-28 lead at half.

In the second half, Lamar would take control.  At one point, the Runnin' Lopes would take a 46-33 lead.  Unforced turnovers and some key missed shots would hurt the Plainswomen throughout the quarter.  At the end of the third, the Plainswomen would trail 55-44.

In the fourth, NJC would make a valiant effort at a comeback, but would ultimately fall short.  The Plainswomen finish the season with an overall record of 14 wins and 14 losses.
