Plainswomen Victorious In Home Opener

Nov 7, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – In Northeastern's home opener on Wednesday night, the Plainswomen basketball team played against the Colby Community College Trojans. In their first two games, the Plainswomen won both on the road and looked to make it three. The ladies were excited to get back on their home court to show the fans what they have this year.

The game started and the Plainswomen jumped out to an early lead with the help of Alyzae Davis and Unique Davis. Northeastern's fast break was the backbone for them to give them their lead. As the half progressed, the Trojans sniffed that out and started to get back and defend against the break. With Colby keying on a few of the Plainswomen, they started to cut back Northeastern's lead. Although the lead was cut down, Northeastern still led 49-33 at half.

To begin the second half, both teams were out to the races and getting layup opportunities. As the first four minutes expired in the third, the score then read 57-39 in favor of the Plainswomen. Northeastern locked up on defense and kept their offensive aggressive to widen their lead to make it a 70-45 game to end the third. In the fourth, Northeastern kept up their defense and continued to attack, and the game ended with Northeastern staying dominant and winning the game 85-58.

The Plainswomen are at home this weekend as they host for the NJC Roundball Classic.
