Women Win 2 of 3 At LCCC Classic

Northeastern traveled up to Cheyenne to play in the Laramie County Community College Classic.  NJC played three Wyoming teams in the tournament and overall had pretty good results.  These were the last games of the year for the Plainswomen as they head on winter break.  On January 7th, Northeastern will resume the regular season as they head again to Wyoming to play Eastern Wyoming College.

(Game Recap 12/9) Plainswomen vs. Central Wyoming College = Won 69-63

1st Quarter - NJC won scoring battle.  End of 1st was 18-12.

2nd Quarter - Northeastern continued to outscore CWC.  Halftime score was 35-27.

3rd Quarter - NJC scored good points on CWC turnovers.  Score at end of third was 50-36.

4th Quarter - Plainswomen didn't handle pressure well, and have a few turnovers.  Final score was 69-63 NJC.

Breakdown: Overall a nice performance from NJC.  They got out to an early lead and was able to hold onto it the entire game.  Kudos to the women for controlling both the clock and the ball.

(Game Recap 12/10) Plainswomen vs. Western Wyoming College = Won 70-65

1st Quarter - NJC got off to a nice start and a good lead.  Score at end of the 1st was 22-14.

2nd Quarter - Lots of back and forth with even scoring.  Halftime score was 42-34 in favor of NJC.

3rd Quarter - WWC got hot from the field and outscored NJC.  Score to end the 3rd was 57-52.

4th Quarter - NJC held strong, controlled the ball and shot well from the free throw line.  Final scored ended 70-65 NJC.

Breakdown: A good back to back performance for the ladies.  They controlled the ball and clock while shooting a high percentage.  Plenty of chances to let the game slip, but held strong and played with confidence.

(Game Recap 12/11) Plainswomen vs. Laramie County CC = Loss 80-60

1st Quarter - LCCC got off to a hot start from the field.  End of the 1st was 23-14 LCCC.

2nd Quarter - NJC shot poorly and turned over the ball with LCCC pressure.  Halftime score was 40-20, NJC losing.

3rd Quarter - Plainswomen couldn't find the groove defensively, struggled to make stops.  End of the 3rd was 63-36.

4th Quarter - NJC played well, but was unable to pull out of the deficit.  Final score was 80-60.

Breakdown: The Plainswomen couldn't keep up with the pressure and high paced offense of LCCC.  A couple of LCCC's starters were able to score at will and the bench scored a bunch as well.  Filippa Goula led the scoring charge for NJC with 14 points, Hannah Chavez added 12 points and Dalys McGuinnis scored 11.  Northeastern had 27 turnovers to LCCC's 13.
