NJC Wrestling Season Rolls On

Northeastern competed in a tri-dual with T#15 Carl Albert State and T#15 Cloud County Community College. In the first dual the Plainsmen fell short to Carl Albert State 18-37. Highlighting the dual was Deegan Palmer and Riley Dean-Butt who both earned a pin fall. In the second dual NJC lost to Cloud County 36-16. Braydon Mogle picked up a forfeit win, with Deegan Palmer and Connor Davis netting the other two Plainsmen wins. 

December 18th, 2022 

The Northeastern wrestling team wrapped up the fall semester with a quad dual hosted by the University of Northern Colorado. At the event the Plainsmen wrestled D1 program UNC, D2 program New Mexico Highlands, and #7 Ranked junior college Northwest Kansas Tech. In a difficult contest with UNC the Plainsmen fell 6-44 with their single win coming from Deegan Palmer who pinned his opponent in the 3rd period. 

NJC's second dual was with New Mexico Highlands where they competed well but fell short 16-34. Coming away with the fall was Braydon Mogle and Riley Butt. Bronson Richins also added to the win tally with a 12-1 major decision. 

The final dual of the 2022 year was with #7 ranked Northwest Kansas Tech and provided fans with plenty of entertainment and a nail biter finish. Braydon Mogle started things off earning a forfeit win at 133 pounds. Following Mogle, 141 pounder Deegan Palmer and 149 pound wrestler Channing Warner earned back to back pin falls to put the team up 18-6. Kansas Tech rallied back to take the lead 21-18 headed into the 184 pound match. At 184 pounds Connor Davis found himself down early in the match but made a comeback earning the fall in the 3rd period putting the Plainsmen back on top 24-21. Kansas Tech earned a fall at 197 pounds flipping the lead again to 27-24 with only the 285 pound match left to wrestle. NJC's big boy Riley Dean-Butt showed what he is made of earning the dual winning pin fall and capping off the 30-27 victory for the team.
