First Half Lead Lost By Plainswomen

First Half Lead Lost By Plainswomen

The Plainswomen recently came off a harsh loss to the Mustangs of Western Wyoming and wanted to get this win against the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Tech.  The ladies knew they could get the win, they just had to put together an entire 90 minutes of play.  Their game plans have been solid, it would come down to a matter of execution.

With the game underway the Plainswomen were hunting for their first goal, and Jaycie Dillenburg breaks the ice in the 9th minute mark from a pass of Kaylin Casto.  The women were sticking to their game plan and it was working well for them.  With time progressing, it was Sierra Hinkel to get the second goal in the 30 minute mark from the assist of Jaycie Dillenburg.  At half, the Plainswomen would have the lead 2-1.

In the second half, momentum was on their side, but a goal by the Mavericks would tie it up two apiece.  From there it was all Mavericks.  The next goal scored by NWKTC was a penalty kick from a Plainswomen defender made an ill-advised tackle in box.  Another goal followed by another penalty kick would give the Mavericks the go ahead goal for the 5-2 win over the Plainswomen.

The Plainswomen are looking to bounce back after a decent break as they travel to La Junta, CO on September 29 to play against the Otero Rattlers for a Region IX conference game.
