Plainswomen Drop 1st Game of Season

Spencer, Iowa

The NJC Women's soccer team opened their season on the road in Spencer, Iowa to take on Iowa Lakes Community College. The Plainswomen came out strong and dominated play throughout the first half, putting one goal away and headed into the half up 1-0. Despite controlling the attack with 15 shots to Iowa Lakes 8, they came up short with a 1-2 loss to start their season. Next game up for NJC will be on Saturday 8/27 against Hutchison Community College at home.

1st Goal - At minute 27, Rosalinda Sanchez finds Lindsey Harris with a throu-gh ball and Harris was able to beat a defender and then rip a shot to the upper corner of the goal.

Iowa Lakes Goal – At minute 59, Iowa Lake's Faith Martin finished a brilliant shot off a pass from teammate Maria Vilhena.

Iowa Lakes Goal – Minute 72, Faith Martin drove in a corner kick for Maria Vilhena to put away.
