A Tie and a Win For The Weekend

Despite never beating Northeast Community College, the Plainswomen were determined to change that this year. Although NJC seemed to be controlling the game, they went down 2-0. However, with their attack having a total of 25 shots in the game, they were able to put two away to tie up the game. The game ended up going into double overtime, and despite having many attempts on goal in those two overtime halves, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The Plainswomen will take on Central Columbus tomorrow, 9/3 at home.

(Game Recap 8/27) Plainswomen vs. Northeast Community College = Draw 2-2 (OT)

Northeast Goal – At minute 5, Mackenzee Stokes took a shot from far out and Romeni Gurmendi was there to finish the ball after a goalkeeper save.

Northeast Goal – At minute 52, Aidyn Woodall played a ball through to Taryn O'brien who beat a defender and slot the ball in the corner

NJC Goal- At minute 63, Jacqueline Escalera sent in a cross from the wing that deflected off a defender to the feet of Nevaeh Clouse who finished a shot into the corner

NJC Goal- At minute 82, Brissa Toribio earned a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. Sophomore Captain Allison Seery stepped up and tied up the game 2-2.

Breakdown: NJC dominated on the attack having 25 shots compared to the Hawks 9 shots. Despite many quality chances on goal, NJC wasn't able to put one away during overtime and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

(Game Recap 8/3) Plainswomen vs. Central Columbus Community College = Won 2-0

The Plainswomen soccer team took home their first win this season after defeating Central Columbus Community College 2-0 on their home turf. The win put the Plainswomen at 1-3-1 on their season. Next up for NJC is the start of Conference play with a game on Friday 9/9 against Casper College and a game on 9/10 against Northwest College, both at home.

NJC Goal – At minute 56, Lindsey Harris followed up on a goalkeeper save to put NJC up 1-0.

NJC Goal – At minute 78, Jacqueline Escalera beat a defender on the wing and sent in a cross that deflected off a defender for Brissa Toribio to put away.

Breakdown: NJC ended the game with 21 shots compared to the Raiders 2. This match up led to the Plainswomen's first win of the season.
