Plainswomen Conquer Knights

Aug. 30, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – The Plainswomen volleyball team traveled to North Platte to play a Region IX opponent, the North Platte Knights. The Knights are in Region IX, but the game was not a divisional game. Nevertheless, Northeastern was ready for the competition and looking for a victory.

The first set went without a hitch for the Plainswomen as they won 25-13. Northeastern was able to score points when they needed and to get on a roll to get the set. The second set was much different, as the Knights got into a groove. The result however would still be the same, with Northeastern taking the win 25-22. That set showed the Plainswomen that they needed to play sound and consistent in order to beat NPCC. In the third and final set, Northeastern played the way they knew and defeated the Knights 25-14.

Notable stats from the game would include Julia Gutierrez Mas with five kills, four aces, and 11 digs. Kacey Jaeger and Sara Antic both each had 12 kills and one ace. Sofija Pajevic was the glue of the operation with 40 assists and two aces. Ashlyn Martinez had three blocks and seven kills. And defensively, Cierra Williams had 13 digs.

The Plainswomen will have their home opener on Thursday, Sept. 13 as they host the Sheridan College Generals.
