Plainswomen Defeat Otero to Finish Three-Game Stretch

Plainswomen Defeat Otero to Finish Three-Game Stretch

Oct. 16, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – A three-day stretch of three tough conference opponents is always a challenging task to complete. Every season the Plainswomen volleyball team has to complete this twice a year with Lamar, Trinidad and Otero. When they traveled down south to play those games, the ladies went 2-1. This time around, the Plainswomen were able to get all three, defeating all the teams in three sets. This final game of three featured the Otero Rattlers, who are always tough competitors for the Plainswomen.

The first set went well for Northeastern, as they were able to pull away at the end and win 25-17. The second set was slightly different as Otero was able to get on a rally and keep up with the Plainswomen. Northeastern was able to keep their cool and keep their lead throughout the set, and finished the set on top 25-23. The third and final set was another battle for the Plainswomen, but towards the end, Northeastern locked in and finished the set to win 25-19.

The Plainswomen were not only excited to have this stretch of games over with, but also to finish it by getting all three wins. Northeastern's next game will be on the road Wednesday, Oct. 17 to play against conference rival, the Western Nebraska Cougars. Last time they played here in Sterling, the Cougars were able to get the best of the Plainswomen and defeat them in five sets.
