Volleyball Goes Three and Out Against Wildcats and Knights

Sept. 11, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — The Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Plainswomen are on a hot streak winning their last seven games in a row; all but two being won in three sets. Northeastern's last two games against the Johnson and Wales University (JWU) Wildcats and North Platte Community College (NPCC) Knights were two where the Plainswomen took care of business quick.

Their first game against JWU finished in little over one hour as the Plainswomen won 25-15, 25-10, and 25-18 against the Wildcats. Northeastern was able to run their plays and finish with kills. Offensively, Julia Gutierrez Mas led with 11 kills and 15 points. Next was Sydney Crites with 5 kills and 6.5 points. Andjelija Draskovic helped those ladies get the kills as she dished out 25 assists and had 8.5 points. Defensively, Draskovic led with 10 digs with 2 blocks.

A few days later, NJC played the NPCC Knights in their first home game of the season. The Plainswomen were excited to be home to play in front of familiar faces, and gave their fans a fun game to watch. Northeastern won all three sets: 25-16, 25-19, 25-23. Gutierrez Mas led again in kills with 13 and 14.5 points. Draskovic had herself another great night by accumulating 10 digs and dishing up 38 assists.

The Plainswomen will be back at home against Sheridan College in Thursday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. before hosting the Sam and Louie's Restaurant Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
