Plainswomen Notch 17th Win of Regular Season

Northeastern continued their sweep of Region IX South opponents with a 3-0 win over McCook. With the victory, the Plainswomen move to 17-10 on the season and 7-0 in conference. 

 

NJC began the match sluggishly but they were able to get into the swing mid-set with a few service runs to give them the lead and win the first set 25-13.  In the second set McCook adjusted and got their middle block involved slowing NJC's attack down.  After some adjustments by NJC they took the second set 25-23.  In the final set, Northeastern won 25-18 after getting a mix of all offensive players. Next up for Northeastern is Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday, October 23 at 2 p.m. Scottsbluff, Neb., in a match that could determine who will be #1 and #2 going into the conference tournament.

Breakdown: NJC started slowly in the first set but after some solid service runs they took the lead and didn't look back.  Freshman Taylor Wiescamp tallied eight kills with sophomore Mayson Fago adding an additional eight kills.  Freshman Lacy Hunt knocked down seven kills and freshman Kaytlin Smart recorded five with Sidney Bills and Caley Harper both freshmen chipping in with three kills each.  The Plainswomen had seven blocks with six aces on the night.
