Volleyball Loses Tough Home Game to Western Nebraska

Northeastern Volleyball faced a competitive opponent on Friday, September 30th at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. The Plainswomen faced off against, at the time, #7 ranked Western Nebraska Community College. The Plainswomen were able to battle hard against the cougars but ultimately faced a devastating 5 set loss against the ranked team. NJC is set to face Otero College in La Junta, Colorado on Friday October 7th.

Breakdown: Northeastern Volleyball faced a devastating 5 set loss on their home court. However, the Plainswomen did not let the Cougars walk away with an easy win. The Plainswomen fought hard in set one forcing WNCC into extra points from the beginning. Set two, the Plainswomen were able to take the set, tieing the teams. NJC was able to take their momentum from set 2 and use it in set three as the Plainswomen were able to take back-to-back set wins. However, all momentum was lost in sets 4 and 5 as the Cougars were able to come back and the win from the Plainswomen. NJC was led offensively by Freshman Annika Helf with 16 kills along with freshman Taysa Conger close behind with 13 kills of her own. Defensively the Plainswomen were led by freshman Grace Yoder with 17 digs and Allie Schumacher right behind with her 16 digs. Allie Schumacher was able to lead the Plainswomen with 25 Assists and Emma Meyer adding 15 of her own.
