Plainswomen Volleyball Adds Three to Roster

Sterling, Colo...

After another successful season, Coach Chrisman has announced the addition of three players joining the team in the spring of 2023.

The NJC Plainswomen wrapped up 2022 with a 22-15 record, a Westplains District B Championship, and a 13th place finish at the National Tournament. The Plainswomen also saw a lot of individual accomplishments:

- Annika Helf was named First Team Region IX and All Region IX all tournament team.

- Gabby Oos was named first team Region IX

- Grace Yoder was Region IX Libero of the Year and Second Team Region IX

- Taylor Wiescamp was named Second team All Region IX

- Kaytlin Smart was named All Region IX Tournament Team

- Allie Schumacher was named All Region IX Tournament Team and surpassed 1,000 Career Assists

With the loss of 8 Sophomores, Coach Chrisman didn't waste time recruiting players to fill the shoes of those leaving.  Northeastern will have three new faces on their roster in January 2023.

1.  Caty Havekost is a 6'2 outside hitter transferring from NCAA D2 Montana State Billings. While at MSUB, Caty was the only freshmen named to the All-Conference teams. Caty is from Arvada, CO and played for Faith Christian High School. During her time there, she was 1st team all-league JR and SR year, League Senior of the year 2021, CCGS All-State team and 2nd team All-State CHSAA

"Caty is going to add a lot of experience to out pin position. She will also add some height to help with our outside block which is something we lacked last year. I'm excited to have her join us at spring so she can hit the ground running learning our offense"

2.  Whitney Chintala is a Libero/Defensive Specialist transferring from North Platte CC. While at North Platte she was named All Region IX D2. Whitney is originally from Fleming, CO where was a 4x All Conference, 4x All State, and was a Max Preps All American. She has also won a state championship.

"I'm thrilled to have Whitney back in Colorado. She comes from a winning high school and knows what it takes to win games. I think she's going to add a lot of scrappiness to our back row and will make us even stronger in serve receive."

3.  Hannah Studder is a 5'10 lefty right side from Colorado Springs. Hannah will be graduating high school early to come and train with the Plainswomen. While at St Mary's', Hannah was named All-Conference, All-State, AVCA player of the week, and was a member of the CCGS All State team.

"Adding Hannah to our spring roster is huge for us. Having a true lefty right side is something we haven't had since my first year here. I think she's going to push those in the same position and bring a fresh look to our offense. I'm excited to have her start training with us to see what she can do!"
