NJC Finishes Regular Season With Losing Record

NJC Finishes Regular Season With Losing Record

Sterling, Colo...

Northeastern's 21-22 regular season wrapped up on Saturday this past weekend as they hosted Lamar Community College for Hoops Homecoming.  Earlier in the season, NJC went to Lamar and played in one of the longest games in their history as they grabbed a win on the road in a crazy 5 overtime contest.  The latest loss from the Plainsmen means that they must travel to Trinidad to take on the Trojans, a game in which is a must win for Northeastern or the season will come to an end without even making a regional appearance.  The play-in game will take place this coming Saturday the 26th at 6pm in Trinidad.

(Game Recap 2/19) Plainsmen vs. Lamar Community College = Loss 74-60

1st Half -  Plainsmen went back and forth, came up short in 1st half.  LCC leads at halftime 38-33.

2nd Half - Lamar's scoring on NJC turnovers favored the score.  LCC wins 74-60.

Breakdown: Another game where the Plainsmen really struggled to take care of the ball in front of a big home crowd for Hoops Homecoming.  It was the last regular season game for NJC, one that finished and left Northeastern with a losing record for the 1st time in awhile.  Lamar's starting 5 put up big numbers and played the majority of the game.  Freshman Obi Agbim led the charge for the Plainsmen and scored 21.  Quincey Jewett was a rebound shy from a double-double as he scored 10 points and grabbed 9 boards.  NJC once again shot a lot of 3-pointers and only made a handful, leaving them shooting only 25% from behind the arc.  Northeastern continues to win the rebounding matches in most games, but also has typically almost double the amount of turnovers as the opponent.
