Northeastern Drops Game 2 In A Heavy Offensive Battle, Falling 25-22

Ayva McComas hit three home runs and drove in four, but Northeastern lost to Lamar Community College 25-22 in Game 2 of Friday. McComas homered in the second, third, and sixth innings. Despite the loss, Northeastern did collecet 20 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Lamar had 23 hits on their way to victory. Northeastern flipped the game on it's head in the bottome of the second, scoring five runs on one hit to take an 8-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by McComas that drove in two. The Plainswomen scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. McComas hit a solo home run to left field, Lauren Lee grounded out, scoring one run, and Teagan Kehm homered to left field, scoring three runs. Northeastern made the score 22-15 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Lee hit a solo home run to left field, and Isabelle Bencivenga singled, scoring one run. The Plainswomen scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. McComas hit a solo home run to center field, Savannah Waldrop doubled, scoring one run, Lee homered to center field, scoring two runs, Bencivenga singled, scoring one run, Reagan Fehringer singled, scoring one run, and Kaylee Eyl grounded out scoring one run. Kehm took the loss for Northeastern. The righty went four and one-third innings, giving up 13 runs (five earned) on 12 hits, striking out two, and walking three. Ryann Eurich stepped in the circle first for Northeastern. The righty surrendered 11 hits and 12 runs (nine earned) over two and two-thirds innings striking out one and walking three. The Plainswomen amassed 20 hits in the contest. Lee drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northeastern with five RBIs. The infielder went 3-5 on the day. Lee and McComas hit multiple home runs for Northeastern. Waldrop, Kehm, Bencivegna, and Eyl each collected multiple hits for the Plainswomen. Blayke Duncan paced the team with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks on the game. Norhteastern turned one double play during the contest. The Plainswomen are back in action again at 12:00 PM on Saturday March 23rd against Lamar Community College.
