Second Home Loss For Plainswomen

Second Home Loss For Plainswomen

Sterling, Colo...

Earlier in the week, Northeastern women's basketball hosted Eastern Wyoming College at the Bank of Colorado Event Center for just their third home game of the season.  The Plainswomen have spent the majority of their season on the road and playing in various tournaments.  This game marked the last home game before the winter break.  Coming up next for NJC is a quick trip up to play the CSU women's club team at 4pm on Saturday, December 4th.  Moving on after that competition will be another tournament where Northeastern will play three more games before break at the Laramie County Community College Classic in Cheyenne.  All three games will feature matchups with Wyoming colleges.

(Game Recap 11/30) Plainswomen vs. Eastern Wyoming College = Loss 76-61

1st Quarter -  NJC struggled to stop EWC's scoring in the paint.  End score was 17-13, EWC.

2nd Quarter - Much more even quarter, NJC scored a few points from the free throw line.  NJC was down 34-28 at halftime

3rd Quarter - Northeastern could not come up with many defensive stops, and were outscored by 8.  End of 3rd quarter was 56-42, EWC.

Breakdown: Northeastern struggles to get going offensively most games.  There isn't much for balanced scoring and they have to rely on one or two players to score the majority of the points.  Leading scorer for NJC was sophomore Liana Gkompetzisvili who recorded 12 points.  Both Filippa Goula and Dalys McGuinnis tallied 11 points while freshman Kenzie Kraich added 10.
