Plainsmen to Host Region IX Wrestling Championships

Northeastern Junior College is hosting the 2023 Wrestling Plains District Championships on Saturday, February 18th. Attending the tournament will be nationally ranked #15 Northeastern Junior College, #2 Western Wyoming Community College, #7 Northwest College and Otero College. This tournament is wrestled for the right to attend the 2023 NJCAA wrestling championships held in Council Bluffs, IA March 3rd-4th.
Last season Northeastern qualified 7 individuals for the national tournament and hope to build on that this year. With 3 teams ranked in the top 15 and multiple individuals ranked highly in their weight classes, everybody is going to have to wrestle hard to earn their spot. The plainsmen wrestling team has wrestled excellent at home all season so hosting the regional tournament will definitely play into their favor when getting those final qualifying spots. Action begins at 10:00am in the Bank of Colorado Event center on the NJC campus.
