Plainswomen Beat Trojans In First Round of Region IX

Northeastern faced Trinidad State College in the first round quarterfinal of the 21-22 Region IX tournament.  After facing the Trojans only less than a week ago, it was fresh in the minds of the Plainswomen on how to attack and beat their opponents.  NJC was able to defeat the Trojans in four sets after dropping the first set.  On Thursday, November 4th, the Plainswomen face Northwest College in the second round of the Region IX tournament at 6pm.

Breakdown: After a rough start to the match, NJC recovered nicely and won 3 straight sets to take the first round win against the Trojans.  Northeastern recorded a total of 46 kills, 21 of them coming from freshmen Caley Harper and Kaytlin Smart.  In terms of solid defense, NJC had 83 digs, 23 from Jade Feather, 19 from Mayson Fago and 10 by freshman Faith Trenkle.  Sophmore Andie Anderson came through with another double-double, tallying 23 assists and 11 digs.  As a team, the Plainswomen ended with a .145% kill percentage.
