Jackson Trout Gets Region IX Player Of The Week

Sterling, Colo...

Northeastern's 6'5" freshman Jackson Trout got the Region IX Player of the Week nod as he had a solid 2nd week of the season at the plate.  Trout comes to NJC from Papillion, Nebraska and plays the utility position for the Plainsmen.  During the past week of the 2022 regular season for the Plainsmen, they traveled to Metro State to compete against Minot State University and hosted the Colorado State University Baseball Club.  This is the second Plainsmen to receive the Region IX Player of the Week award in as many weeks.

During the week, Jackson played 3 of the 4 games Northeastern competed in during the 3-day stretch.  In those games, Trout went to the plate 9 times, got a hit in 6 of those at bats and scored 5 times.  Those 6 hits included 3 doubles, a homerun and 5 RBI's.  On top of the stellar batting, Jackson was able to steal a base as well during the stretch.  Big time batting rewarded Trout with a .667 batting average during the stretch.  Overall this season, Jackson has a .500 batting average, .560 on-base percentage and a .818 slugging percentage.

Northeastern needs players like Trout to continue the big play as the season progresses to give the team a threat in the lineup in which other teams will have to be aware of.

Congrats to NJC utility player Jackson Trout on being named Player of the Week for Region IX!  Keep up the great work!

The Plainsmen next take on Miles Community College on Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend.
