Cole Jones Gets Region IX Pitcher of the Week

Northeastern pitcher Cole Jones got the Region IX Pitcher of the Week nod as he had a solid week of the season from the mound.  Jones comes to NJC from Fruita, Colorado and pitches for the Plainsmen.  During the past week of the 2023 regular season for the Plainsmen, they played four games against Otero College.  This is the third Plainsmen pitcher to receive the Region IX Pitcher of the Week award this season.

During the Otero College series, Jones pitched in his 9th game of the season and solidified his 3rdseason win.  During his apperance, Cole pitched 5.0 innings and only gave up 2 hits.  He also struck out 9 batters, had 0 walks and 0 earned runs.  Overall this season, Jones has a 3.93 ERA, 18.1 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts and is 3-0.

Northeastern needs players like Cole to continue the big play as the season progresses to give the team a threat in the pitching lineup in which other teams will have to be aware of.
