Northeastern Splits the first day of double headers against Miles Community College on Sunday

Game 1

Sage Ferguson was dominant on the hill, as the right handed-pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in Northeastern's 11-5 vicotry over Miles Community College. Ferguson only surrendered five hits and two runs over four innings while walking three batters. The Plainsmen got on the board in the first inning, Lane Snow ended up getting a run in on a groundout and then Josh Cote homered to center field scoring two runs. The Plainsmen scored again in the second inning to make it a 4-0 ballgame. In the third inning, Joel Franco tripled, scoring three runs and then Wynn Drewes singled scoring one more run to make it 8-0 game. Cameron Ochoa came in relief and pitched two innings only giving up two out, striking out three batters and allowing 0 runs. Wynn Drewes led the Plainsmen at the plate going 2-2, Joel Franco led with three RBIs. Ryan Kucy led the team with three walks. The team took a total of eight walks throughout the game. The Plainsmen also stole nine bases during the duration of the game. 

Game 2

The Plainsmen fell in the second game of the double header 19-4. Northeastern took the lead in the bottom of the first after Luke Byler singled socring 2 runs to make it a 2-1 game. The Pioneers gained an 8-2 lead after the second inning and didn't look back from there. Cole Jones took the loss for the Plainsmen, the righty went 1 1/3 innings allowing seven runs (6 ER) on six hits, striking out two and walking three. Cade Owens led the Plainsmen with two hits in three at bats. Luke Byler led the Plainsmen with 2 RBIs in the contest, while going 1-2 at the plate.
