Northeastern Takes Care of Business In The First Game of a 4 game home weekend against Dawson Community College

Jackson Doty hit two home runs and drove in five as Northeastern took down Dawson 19-9. The Plainsmen had 16 hits in the game and showed off some pretty good offense. Dawson scored 5 runs in the top of the first inning, but the Plainsmen came back with four of their own runs in the bottom of the inning after Doty homered to left to score three runs and then Josh Moore doubled to tack on one more. The Plainsmen made the score 8-5 in the bottom of the second after Joel Franco singled, scoring one run, and Ryan Kucy doubled, scoring one run, and error scored two runs. The Plainsmen scored 11 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third inning. James Nolan doubled, scoring one run, Franco hit a grand slam to right field, Josh Cote hit a solo home run to center, Doty homered again to right field to score two runs, a passed ball scored a run, and Wynn Drewes homered to left to score two runs. Sage Ferguson earned the win, he allowed six hits and seven runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Evan Gail appeared in relief for the Plainsmen. Cote went 3-3 at the plate to lead the Plainsmen in hits. Kucy, Drewes, Moore, and Franco all gathered multiple hits for Northeastern. The Plainsmen stole three bases during the game.
