Northeastern Starts Out Their Home Series Against CSU Club In Dominant Fashion Winning 13-3

Josh Cote hit two home runs and drove in three as Northeastern took down CSU Club 13-3 in the first of four games on the weekend. Cote homered in the third and fourth inning. The Plainsmen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Joel Franco homered to left field, and Ryan Kucy hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Northeastern scored one run in the bottom of the third on solo shot from Cote. Five more Plainsmen runs came across the plate in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-1. Wynn Drewes singled, scoring one run, Franco was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Cote homered to left, scoring two runs, and Jackson Doty singled, scoring one run. Franco hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth. Edyn Barber earned the win for the Plainsmen. The righty allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Noah Soper tossed one inning of shutout ball for Northeastern, surrendering one hit, striking out one and walking none. Northeastern amassed 14 hits in the contest. Doty, Kucy, Cote, Lane Snow, and Franco each collected multiple hits. Cote and Franco hit multiple home runs, the Plainsmen stole three bases and turned one double play.
