Northeastern Splits With CSU Pueblo After Falling In Game 2 11-12

Northeastern fell to CSU Pueblo 11-12 on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 11 in the bottom of the eighth when CSU Pueblo singled in the game winning run. Despite the loss, Northeastern did collect 14 hits in the high scoring affair. Northeastern scored five runs and five hits in the top of the third inning. Lane Snow singled, scoring two runs, and Harrison Good homered to left field, scoring three runs. Northeastern took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after the Plainsmen scored on a wild pitch, CSU Pueblo dropped a third strike, and James Nolan singled, each scoring one run. A ground out by James Harbison gave Northeastern the lead 11-10, in the top of the eighth. CSU Pueblo took the victory in the bottom of the eighth inning after a double and a single, that each scored one run. Evan Gail took the loss for Northeastern, the lefty went one-third of an inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking none. Cam Ochoa stepped on the bump first for Northeastern, the righty surrendered two hits and four runs (zero earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking three. Northeastern collected 14 hits in the game. Good went 1-3 at the plate as the right handed hitter led the team with three RBIs. Snow led Northeastern with four hits in five at bats. Wynn Drewes and Amar Mahmood each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Josh Moore led the Plainsmen with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Northeastern also stole three bases during the contest. Northeastern will be back in action again on Saturday March 16th against Adams State, at Adams State at 12:00 PM.
