Northeastern Is Propelled In Game 1 By Sage Ferguson's Record Breaking Strikeout Day

Ryan Kucy drove in four runs on one hit to lead Northeastern past Trinidad State College 10-0 on Game 1 of Friday. Kucy doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the second inning, scoring one run. Sage Ferguson struck out 13 batters on the day. The righty also surrendered one hit and zero runs over six innings while walking one. Northeastern got on the board in the bottom of the first after Kucy doubled, scoring three runs, and James Nolan singled, scoring one run. The Plainsmen added to their lead early in the bottom of the second inning when Kucy drew a walk, scoring one run, and Harrison Good doubled, scoring three runs. Wynn Drewes, Joel Franco, and Nolan each collected two hits for Northeastern. The Plainsmen were patient throughout the game as they drew 10 walks. Josh Cote, Lane Snow, and James Harbison led the team two walks each. Northeastern were sure handed in the field, not commiting a single error, Cote had the most chances with 13.
