
Northeastern Baseball Drops The Season Opener to New Mexico Junior College on the Road
Plainsmen Baseball opened up their season at New Mexico Junior College and ended up dropping the contest, 15-5. Bradyen Stufft was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Stufft had a great offensive game, going 2-3 with a single and a double, scoring one run and knocking in three RBIs, while also stealing one base.
Northeastern got on the board in the first inning after Stufft singled down the right field line and Michael Clark grounded out, each scoring one run. NMJC was able to steal the lead in the bottom of the first while scoring three runs. NMJC was able to add two more runs in the second inning on a two run home run. NMJC was able to push across another 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ondrej Vank started the game for the Plainsmen. Vank went two innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out two and walking three. Evan Gail provided 1.2 innings giving up 5 runs (0 earned) on three hits, striking out two batters. Jared Tameling gave the Plainsmen one inning, giving up 5 runs (three earned) on 4 hits and walking one.
Stufft and Lewis Coonts were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Plainsmen. Stufft led Northeastern with three RBIs in the contest.
