
Northeastern Falls In A Heartbreaker Thanks To Walkoff Hit by NMMI
Northeastern Baseball falls in an absolute heartbreaker to NMMI, thanks to walkoff in the bottom of the seventh inning to aid NMMI to a 6-5 victory. Gavin LaMont was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Lamont went 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (0 earned) on two hits, striking out 6 and walking one.
Though the Plainsmen were able to out hit NMMI 8-6 they ended up falling in the contest. Brayden Stufft, Harrison Good and Max Valerion were all able to obtain two hits in the contest. The Plainsmen got on the board in the first inning after Brendan Clelland singled, scoring one run. A single by Good extended the Northeastern lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning. A single by Stufft in the top of the third, once again extended the Plainsmen lead to 3-1. A rough three run sixth inning came back to bite the Plainsmen as NMMI tied the game up.
Evan Gail ended up taking the loss for Northeastern. Gail went one inning, giving up two earned runs on two hits, and striking out two. Garrett Garrison gave up two earned runs on two hits, striking out five in 1.1 innings of work. LaMont started the game on the mound for Northeastern. Valerio provided pop in the middle of the lineup, going 2-3 on the day with two doubles and two RBIs. Yusei Uzawa was able to steal two bases in the contest. Northeastern was able to steal a total of 5 bases on the day.
