
Northeastern Baseball Falls To Miles Community College in A High Scoring Affair 19-14
Northeastern Baseball scores 14 runs in the contest, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Miles Community College's 19 runs. Hudson Hoy was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Hoy went 2-4 at the plate, hitting one double, one home run, driving in 6 runs and scoring three runs.
Despite out hitting the Pioneers 16-15, the Plainsmen could not secure the victory. Yusei Uzawa and Brendan Clelland were both able to collect three hits each in the contest. Northeastern scored 5 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored two runs, Tanner Peerey singled, scoring one run, Uzawa singled, scoring one run and Brayden Stufft hit a sacrifice fly, scroing one run. An error gave Miles the lead 11-10 in the top of the fourth inning. The Plainsmen then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Clelland singled, scoring two run to give Northeastern the 12-11 lead. Hoy homered to left field which helped tie the game at 14 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Miles scored five run in the top of the seventh inning to help secure their victory.
Sebastian Miranda started the game off for the Plainsmen. Miranda went two innings, giving up 10 earned runs on 8 hits, walking two and striking out two. CJ Gonzales came in for four innings of relief, giving up four runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, walking 5 and striking out 7. Korey Koehler ended up taking the loss for Northeastern. Koehler went .2 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on two hits, walking two and striking out one. Matt Yarish came in and struck out the only batter he faced. Aniel Del Orbe and Peerey each collected multiple hits in the contest. Del Orbe and Uzawa each stole multiple bases, the Plainsmen stole a total of 7 bases in the contest.
